A kitsch witch and a happy birtday.

So here she is. She may not have gone the way some of you would have liked. It was so hard to decide whether to make her a traditional witch in black and orange or to make her all shabby and floral. I kept coming back to the red gingham. But all of the other ideas were appealing too so I guess I'll have to make a few more.
The sides still need to be painted so she's not quite ready to be listed. I'll let you know when that's going to happen.

Yesterday was my 45th birthday.
Since we were all in one place and looked presentable I got Robert to snap a picture of our little family.
We really have very few of these.

My parent's sprung for dinner at Adam's Pine Creek to celebrate Mike and my birthdays.
It's a big old barn-turned-buffet with tacky paintings on the walls and yummy food. Especially the bread fresh out of the oven.
Here's us waiting for our table.

Dad and mom. :)

Robert, his friend Nina, and Josh.

My sister, Roni, and Mike.

Roni rockin' a pumpkin hat.

Eli in a chimney hat.
My favorite was the turkey hat, but I didn't get a good picture. :(
Anyway. We had fun.

  6. The moment I laid my eyes on your work, I smiled. What caught my eye and got stuck in my mind is the frown on your witch's face and the exasperaed, dreamy expression on the owl perched on her shoulder. the yellow-ochre background with pale stars and her unusually light-colored costume and gingham checks on her hat further intensified that irresistible whimsical irony.
