In fact my E is for Elephant mouse pad is a featured item today... or maybe it was yesterday...not sure.

And most importantly, now we know who we play. Pens vs. Caps on Saturday.

Printing and Painting

Working on this girl today and still finishing up that big print order. CAn't decide whether to give her a plain old background to go with the other Alphabet Friends (still 15 minutes or so left on the E is for Elephant girl auction) or to give her a Mary had a little lamb background.
Maybe I'll take Penny for a walk and think about it before the rain sets in.

Pittsburgh rules!

While Mike and I were home (somehow alone) watching the Pens amazing comeback in Game 6, Eli and his girlfriend, Taylor, were at Heinz Field for the Steeler's blood drive. Since he is better at remembering the camera than I am, I thought I'd share his photos.



Don't worry the Pens game was on there. I don't think he missed any of it.



Isn't Eli lucky to have found a girl who is as big a sports fan as he is...especially hockey.



It was really a lovely weekend. Lots of being outside and enjoying the unusually warm weather. Josh's friend Zack's family even opened the pool already and he spent Saturday and Sunday swimming.
Mike and I took advantage of our alone time on Saturday evening to get Chinese and go to Mingo with Penny. EAting by the creek and then throwing some frisbee...does it get any better than that?

Today is all about printing prints. Although, I need to take a break now to head to the post office (again!) and to get some more ink. Bye for now.

Just this one

I am still officially off of commissions for now, but this one was a special Mother's day request so I decided to sneak it in.
HOpe I got it right. Still needs its crackle finish.

I've decided to give in and start adding a watermark to my images. They've been showing up in several places without my permission and maybe this will curb that in some small way. I know that most people ask first, but some don't. Just ask. :)

A disappointing hockey game last night. But we are still ahead and I think we can pull it off. We looked great in the 1st period and then FSN went out because of a lightning strike in Atlanta and we missed almost the whole 2nd period. Sure, we had the radio but that's just not the same. Anyway, it was all downhill from there. Hopefully Saturday's game will have the desired outcome. GO PENS!

Eli has a roller game at 4:30 today and then a deck game tonight at 9:30. All hockey, all the time. :)
It's supposed to reach 79 today so I'm kinda looking forward to that time outside.

I swore...

... I'd get to the grocery store early today, yet here I still sit.
I wanted to show some side views of my new painting on accounta I really like the polka dots.

Also I nabbed these picture of the show other night off of one of Jesse's friends facebook albums. HOpe they don't mind.





The most amazing thing to me is how very lint-free that fan in front's black ball cap is!

(Note to self - throw bedspread in the washer when you get back from the store. )

Flyght wins! First place!!!
And somehow...even though I told everyone "don't let me walk out the door without my camera"...I walked out the door without my camera. What the heck! HOw important does an event have to be for me to remember to grab the stinkin' camera?!?
Anyway, fun was had by all. You'll just have to take my word for it. Family, friends, neighbors, the whole "Flyght Crew" was there. And the boys were just amazing!!!

In other news, I've added a few finishing touches to my elephant girl and I'm callin' her done.
Paper patches and stitching have been added to her dress and the sides are riddled with fat white polka dots each on a different colored background.
I will be adding her to my etsy shop momentarily. Won't you stop by and see her?

Today's the day!

This isn't quite done, but I'm thinkin' I won't get time to work on it today.
Penguin game at 3:00 and then we'll be heading down to Station Square for the BAttle of the BAnd finals.
Aaron's still out delivering the last of the tickets he had. You can still buy tickets at the door though if you're in the area.
The first band will start around 4:00 but Flyght probably won't come on until 9ish.

TWo things

1.) So excited that the Pens got off to such a great start last night!
This is a painting that Eli did for school last year...with a little help from me on the cracklin'.



2.) And Happy 13th Birthday to my little Joshy boy!
What he needed was a haircut. What he asked for was bongos. :)
Wow, he really looks like no one loves him in this picture. But not so...we just respect his right to be a hippie. :)

More sketches

A few more of this new-ish style of girl. They seem to be turning into little alphabet friends of sorts.
(as you can see one was originally Mary of "had a little lamb" fame)
Ambitious me would like to make the sketches into a coloring book and the paintings into a picture book.
Busy mom me says just paint and don't make a big thing out of it.
Stayed tuned to see who wins. :)

I can't wait

I planned on painting a few more girls in this style and then doing a big old shop update. But, you know me, I can never wait.
So for those of you who were asking, I'm going to add these to my shop in about an hour... so 9:15 am EST.

The kids went back to school today. NOt your most exciting spring break, but better than being at school, I guess.
Today is my mom's birthday and Thursday is Josh's . So once I list these girls I'll be off to do some last minute shopping.
Everyone here is excited for the first round of the play-offs (GO PENS!) and for the upcoming Battle of the BAnds (GO FLYGHT!) finals. If you didn't watch the video yet, it's a few posts back. That's my baby singing and drinking the "firewater". Really it's just water. :)

I also want to thank these people who have been saying nice things about me.

And this post almost made me cry.

Weekend Sketches

I'm excited to get these on canvas, but life keeps getting in the way. :)

Seems between printing prints, buying supplies, resizing, uploading, dowloading, going to the post office...there's not much time for actual art. But it sure beats any of the alternatives. Maybe I just need an assistant. :)

The weekend was very good weather-wise. NOt so good Penguin-wise. :(
The kids start spring break tomorrow. We've still got to do our Easter shopping, plus JOsh turns 13 on the 16th (he asked for bongos) and my mom's birthday is on the 14th (maybe I'll just go ahead and order her some bongos as well. )
Can you imagine.

I know that I've been worse than ever about tags and awards and returning comments...but please don't give up on me.
Maybe once we get past these birthdays and Easter and spring break and Battle of the Bands finals all will be back to normal. If there is such a thing.

We are getting ready to go watch the hockey game with friends tonight, but we'll try to fix it tomorrow.

Spring Cleaning

Just taking care of a few things here at the computer before I get back to my spring cleaning.
I may have said this before, but I really don't mind cleaning. It's just that there are so many other things I like doing more. :)

I've finally added my frog painting over on EBAY.
You can find it there along with "I'll Be Watching Over You" and "Boys Will Be Boys".
(Boys Will Be Boys is still in my etsy shop too in case you want it now)



I also add a print of this very old image to my etsy shop yesterday.
I was thinking of doing a few more paintings in this style. Because while I do love painting eyes, some characters just look cuter this way.

At any rate, that won't be happening today. Must get some cleaning done. I didn't get very far yesterday before Josh and I decided we had to head out to the farm and enjoy what was left of the beautiful spring day.
It's rainy today and so a good day for cleaning.
Hopefully the nice weather will return for the boys' spring break next week.
